About Amador Valley High School
Parent Teacher Student Association
For more than a century, the PTA has promoted public education and health and safety for all children and their families. By becoming a part of this great team effort you help Amador Valley High School continue its tradition of excellence.
The national PTA has had a major role in school reform and health and safety for children and youth. The PTA was instrumental in the creation of kindergarten classes, child labor laws, a public health service, hot lunch programs, the juvenile justice system, and mandatory immunization, to name but a few. At the state level, the California PTA led the charge in class size reduction and is urging the Governor to maintain the critical level of education funding guaranteed by Proposition 98.

Taking Action: PTA Advocacy and You
Legislative advocacy may be considered as one of the most important responsibilities of PTA members. This includes working with the State and National PTA to encourage the implementation of programs and policies that benefit children. Effective advocacy requires the involvement of our individual PTA members, units, councils and districts. Our strength in advocacy arises through the voices of over 1 million members in California and over 5 million members nationally. When we work together, for the benefit of children, we are a powerful voice.
If you are interested in hearing about key legislative issues as they arise, and the need for PTA members to take action through calls, letters or emails to their elected officials, please contact Jeff Bowser at legislatin@peraltadistrictpta.org, Legislative Chair, Peralta District PTA, and ask to be included on the email alert list. This will not be used for any purpose other than PTA legislative alerts and will not be shared with anyone outside of PTA. Signing up for legislative alerts does not obligate you in any way. Upon receiving an alert, it is up to you if you wish to take any action. This could be as simple as picking up the phone and calling a legislator's office to report your support or opposition to a particular bill. Two minutes out of your day can make a tremendous difference for children - when we all work together, children benefit.
