Cartridges for Kids

The Amador Valley PTSA is literally turning trash into cash with our inkjet, laser, fax, cell phone, laptop computer, and PDA recycling program.  Your contribution of cartridges and used electronic equipment will help reduce the electronic waste being dumped into our local landfill AND raise money for the school.

On average, ink jet and laser cartridges can earn from 50 cents to $3.00 per item; cell phones from $1.00 to $5.00 (or more!); Palm Pilots (with color screens, power cords and accessories including stylus) $7.00; and laptop computers over 200 MHZ from $12.00 to $42.00.  All revenue earned from this recycling program will be directed to the Amador Valley technology fund that purchases state-of-the-art equipment for our students!

Parents and student may drop off items to be recycled in the school office.  Please send all laser cartridges in their original package in order to avoid damage during the shipping process.  (We do not receive credit for broken or damaged items.)  If that is not possible, please make sure that the laser cartridge is wrapped in bubble wrap or heavy paper when dropping off at the school.  Inkjet cartridges do not have to be sent to school in their original package, but should be sent in a zip lock bag to avoid possible leakage.  PLEASE DO NOT SEND TONER BOTTLES & TUBES OR EPSON INK JET CARTRIDGES!  THESE ITEMS CANNOT BE RECYCLED.

If you have any question about the value of an item, or what items will be accepted by our recycling partner, then visit Cartridges for Kids.  If your place of business has a large amount of recycled items, these can be shipped directly to Cartridges for Kids (at no cost to you). You may make arrangements with a CFK program coordinator who can pick them up at your office.
