Academic Awards: Coordinates check-in and refreshments for Honor Roll Award pizza lunches (2 per year).
Art Fair: Works with the art department to publicize and organize a few volunteers to set up and take down student art fair in May in the AVHS library. Provide refreshments for art fair reception.
Athletic Passes: Order, then laminate and hand out Athletic Passes sold at the AVHS student activities window. Keep records of purchasers. This is mainly done at walk-thru registration – also Pigskin and possibly the first football and basketball game – and a few calls at home.
Bricks: Advertise and take orders for inscribed bricks. Once or twice a year, order bricks and place work order to have them installed on campus.
Coffee with the Principal: This person works with Principal’s admin and volunteers to coordinate location/refreshments for all Coffees with the Principal – about three a year – at school or private home. Advertise event in the newsletter; ensure that someone is responsible for RSVP.
Coat Check Coordinator: Contact volunteers from email list to collect and return items at student dances (3-4 evenings ayear)
Crisis & Caring: Over the winter holidays work with the counselors; possibly collect gift cards or food (Thanksgiving) and donations (December holidays) to help AVHS families in need.
Donnie Awards: Coordinates the decorations for the senior awards ceremony in early June. Orders flowers, contacts volunteers.
E-Scrip: Advertise and manage the E-Scrip program and other similar programs (Target, Raleys). This is mostly done from home by computer. Walkthrough Registration is a big event to push this program for new signups.
Go Green: Works with Ecology Club and Leadership to promote and educate environmentally safe behavior and programs. Three times a year, collect and submit school recycling data to PUSD Environmental Strategic Committee/Go Green. Attend monthly Environmental Strategic Committee meetings (fourth Wed).
Graduation: Work with administration. Coordinate volunteers from email list to decorate for graduation and provide some hospitality. Order flowers, water and muffins – possibly organize bow making or other decorations.
Grants: Process AVHS staff/students applications for grants to bring to general meetings for approval. Check PTSA membership, prices, details and relevance to PTSA goals. Follow-up on payment/reimbursement procedures. Keep record data base and book of grants.
Hospitality Chair: Coordinates refreshments for meetings or other events using an email list. Possibly organizes some appreciation tokens or events.
Newsletter Editor: This person produces our online newsletter using the Constant Contact tool, which is as easy as cut & paste. Some computer knowledge will make the job easier. This goes out twice a month (1st and 15th) with occasional special announcements. Also re-format twice monthly newsletter to hard copy.
PE Uniforms: Order and manage inventory of PE uniforms. Two big sale events are walkthrough registration and first weeks of school. Weekly, fill orders coming in during the school year by keeping supply with Student Activities staff.
PPIE – Ambassador: Attends PPIE meetings and represents AVHS. Ensures collaboration between both non-profit groups.
Reflections: Coordinates the PTA Reflection (Arts) program within AVHS and works with Pleasanton Council Reflection Chair. This committee has a lot of guidelines produced by National PTA.
Registration: Coordinates walkthrough registration for all AVHS parents to enjoy! Includes scheduling volunteers, table setup, registration packets, ordering lunch for volunteers, etc. Most preparation is done before school start and registration is usually 1 week before the first day of school. Also oversee packet stuffing by volunteers week after school is out, and packet pick-up volunteers the first week in August.
Scholarships: Organize group of volunteers to fill student requests for scholarship forms. Publicize scholarships. Coordinate PTSA academic and service scholarship program.
Spirit Wear: Order and coordinate sales of AVHS spirit wear (currently hoodies). Primarily sell at Walk-thru registration, Pigskin and possibly football games, then fill occasional orders. Advertise in AVHS and middle school newsletters. Track sales.
Staff/Teacher Luncheons: This person coordinates three luncheons for all the AVHS Staff. (Approx. 120 - out of 160 - person attendance)
Student Directories: Compile and produce the Student Directory. Computer knowledge is required. This can all be done from home under your own schedule. This requires a lot of hours in September and October.
Technology Rep: Sit on the AVHS Technology Committee (meets a few times after school) to represent PTSA.
Volunteer Coordinator: Our Volunteer Coordinator manages our database of volunteers by inputting names and contact data collected during the beginning of the year and passing those lists to the relevant chairpersons. This mainly requires hours in the beginning of the school year.
Website Administrator: This person manages and maintains this website.
Wellness: Chair a committee organizing projects relating to student wellness. Lots of flexibility for timing or interests.
